"To speak, do not go on, talk to your mom. With lots of help, they can move forward. " Alejandra is a message (pictured), aged 12, to other girls like her can also experiencing rape or sexual abuse in Nicaragua.
Between 1998 and 2008, there were almost 10,000 reported rape girls under 17 years in Nicaragua. Rape and sexual abuse crimes against children are widespread in Nicaragua, mostly by members of his own family. Many do not report because society blamed of what happened, because they are threatened by their abusers, neglected or disregarded by police, prosecutors, courts ... Others, like Alejandra, break the silence to fight for their rights and those of other girls like her.
And today I want to give the opportunity to do what Alejandra and send a message of encouragement these girls to get excited to go on with their lives. That
girls may start to feel again, who can write about their future. That is also why we would like to make a very special gift: a diary where they can draw and write their dreams. Give a daily . Each day symbolizes support of a person to the future of these children.
In April we will deliver the daily messages to the shelters for girls in Nicaragua. And ask the Nicaraguan government hear their voices and protect them from sexual violence.
Give your words, gives a newspaper gives dreams. Esteban Beltrán
